On Oct. 21-23, 16 Monroe City FFA members attended National FFA Convention.
Students left Monroe City at 10:45 a.m. on Oct. 21. A bus was chartered and shared with the Van-Far and Palmyra FFA chapters. While at National Convention, members attended several sessions and watched awards being handed out. Monroe City received the National Chapter Award and Cary Yates received his American Degree.
There were also several speakers. Two of the keynote speakers were Mike Rowe, from Dirty Jobs, and Josh Sundquist. Everybody enjoyed these speakers and got some pretty good laughs during Mr. Sundquist’s motivational speech. There was also a career show for members to attend to look at Agriculture Industries and Agriculture Colleges and Universities. The career show is so big members couldn’t get through it all in a day. Several booths gave out free items and information. In Indianapolis, members also attended the Toby Keith concert, with opening act, “The Eli Young Band.”
Those members who weren’t afraid went through a haunted house on Thursday evening. National Convention was a lot of fun and everyone was able to bring knowledge and excitement back home with them to share with chapter members.
