The Monroe City FFA held barnwarming on Oct. 15.
Ray Crowley came to barnwarming and was the square dance caller for the evening. About 50 members participated. Admission into barnwarming consisted of members bringing either $3 or bringing three canned goods for the local food pantry.
There was lemonade provided by the FFA and finger foods were brought in by the members. Everyone had a lot of fun learning how to square dance, even theprincipal, Mr. Chris Redmon took part in the square dancing. Greenhand initiation took place this night also. This was fun for everyone. The barnwarming king and queen candidates were Allie Foster and David Shively, Lauren Winking and Austin Long, and Shelby Davis and Donnie Hays. Royalty was voted on as members entered. The 2009 barnwarming king and queen were David Shively and Shelby Davis. They received crowns and gift bags with a CD, blanket, and candy. The queen also received a bouquet and sash and the king also received a shovel signed by the FFA members. They shared the royalty dance to the song “Fearless” by Taylor Swift, the other barnwarming candidates joined in. All the members had a great time and enjoyed the fellowship.
