JV ends season with 0-0 game
The Monroe City junior varsity football team finished its season with a 0-0 tie against Quincy High School on Monday, Oct. 26 at a muddy Lankford Field.
Monroe City threatened to score on its opening drive, but regulation ended with a scoreless tie. Each team had one possession in overtime, but neither could score, resulting in the 0-0 tie. Aaron Lieurance led the dominant Panther defense with 10 tackles and three sacks. Spenser Rickard sacked the quarterback twice. Austin Hawker made seven tackles, while Tyler Gosney and Shane Williams each had six tackles. Jordan Fulton intercepted a pass to add to the defensive effort. Stephen Berry, Auvi Williams and Hawker were the leading rushers for Monroe City. With the tie, the Monroe City JV football team ended the season with a record of 4-1-1.
