Three Monroe City softball players, Carly Spalding, Meagan Harris and Claire Saunders, received postseason honors last week.

Spalding, a pitcher and a centerfielder, earned 1st Team All-Conference honors from the Clarence Cannon Conference. She was also named to the All-District Team and the All-Regional 2nd Team. Spalding earned three wins for the Lady Panthers as a pitcher. In the District tournament, she pitched 9.1 innings against Van Far to pick up the win, allowing only six hits and three runs while striking out 15 batters. Spalding is one of two freshmen on the CCC 1st Team.

“She’s really tough to get out because she’s so fast,” coach Troy Patterson said. “She is so dangerous on the bases.”
Senior Meagan Harris was named All-Conference Honorable Mention. Harris was the starting catcher for the Lady Panthers.
“She had a solid season and the other coaches recognized that,” Patterson said.

Senior Claire Saunders was also named All-Conference Honorable Mention. Saunders played first base for the Lady Panthers.
“She improved a ton over last year,” Patterson said. “She really had a good season.”
Monroe City will honor the softball and football teams at its fall sports banquet at 6 p.m. on Nov. 17 at the high school cafeteria.
