Couple wed in Mexico

Elaine Nicole Paden and Derek Mathew Shimp, both of Hannibal, were married at 4 p.m. on Sept. 12, 2009, at the First Presbyterian Church of Mexico. Dr. David Fray of Moberly performed the double ring ceremony.

Parents of the bride are Walter and Susan Paden of Mexico. The groom is the son of Chris Shimp of Monroe City.
The altar was illuminated with two candelabras draped with greenery, along with two large greenery arrangements, accented with white roses and a variety of seed flowers in shades of coral.
The bride wore a floor-length diamond white gown by Magie Siettero. It was styled with a beaded bodice and a one-side draped skirt. The bride carried a silk bouquet of white roses and a variety of flowers in shades of coral.
Jennifer Baird of Moberly served her sister as matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Kate Paden of Mexico, sister-in-law of the bride, and Lisa Shimp of Frankford, sister-in-law of the groom.
Brian Shimp of Frankford served his brother as best man. Groomsmen were Eric Paden of Mexico, brother of the bride, and Curt Fahy of Camp Point, Ill., uncle of the groom.
Felicia Thewlis of Mexico and Melissa Schoeben of Springfield, sister of the groom, were candlelighters.
Jeremy Baird of Moberly, brother-in-law of the bride, and Roy Collins of Monroe City, friend of the groom, seated the guests.
Addison and Owen Paden, niece and nephew of the bride and children of Eric and Kate Paden of Mexico, served as flower girl and ring bearer.
Mary Ann Kasubke of Mexico was organist for the ceremony. Dave Hensley of Ballwin, uncle of the bride, sang, “I Could Not Ask for More,” during the lighting ceremony of the unity candle.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held at the Audrain County 4-H Center. Servers were Kathy and Wayne McCluggage, Steve and Marcia VanCleave, all of Laddonia; Bill, Mae and Lauren Fennewald of Martinsburg; Stacy Duncan of St. Louis and Barbie and Bobbie Stroker of Mexico.
The five-tier white wedding cake was topped with an “S” monogram. The other tiers were adorned with silk arrangements matching the bride’s bouquet. The groom’s chocolate cake featured a replica of the groom’s Chevy Blazer climbing the cake.
Kristine Collins of Monroe City attended the guest book.
The newlyweds are making their home in Hannibal.
The bride is a 2004 graduate of Mexico High School and a 2009 graduate of Hannibal-LaGrange College. She is a registered nurse at Hannibal Regional Hospital.
The groom is a 2000 graduate of Monroe City R-1 High School. He is a technician at Cosmoflex in Hannibal.
