Kendra Long wed to Derrick Adams

Kendra Long became the bride of Derrick Eugene Adams on Saturday, May 30, 2009, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Monroe City, Mo. Father Don Antweiler performed the 3 p.m. double ring ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Brian and Tonette Long and the granddaughter of Tim and Janice Kendrick and the late Mike and Jerry Long, all of Monroe City. Derrick is the son of Rick and Joyce Adams and the grandson of Hilbert and Laneta Gares and the late Ralph and Wilma Adams, all of Monroe City.

The maid of honor was the bride’s sister, Erica Bushaw of Oelwein, Iowa. Bridesmaids were Mandy Painter, friend of the bride; Shayla Roop, sister of the groom; Tami Lorenson, friend of the bride, all of Columbia; Ashley Adams, sister of the groom, Quincy, Ill.; and Ashley Kendrick, cousin of the bride, Monroe City.

The groom’s best man was his brother, Tyler Adams of Monroe City. Groomsmen were Jeremy Moss, Brad Williams, Dane Foster and Michael Williams, friends of the groom, all of Monroe City, and Matt Seward, cousin of the groom, of Waco, Texas.

Flower girls were Rebecca Mitchell, cousin of the bride and daughter of Shelly and Gary Mitchell of Kansas City, and Madelynn Gares, cousin of the groom and daughter of Jeff and Emily Gares of Monroe City. Ring bearer was Ryan Moss, friend of the couple and son of Jeremy and Megan Moss of Monroe City.

Ushers were Travis Bushaw, brother-in-law of the bride, Oelwein, Iowa; Bill Roop, brother-in-law of the groom, Columbia; Mark Gares, cousin of the groom, Columbia, Jared Bichsel, friend of the groom, Monroe City, and Luke Long, cousin of the bride, of Monroe City.
Candlelighters were Allison Mitchell, cousin of the bride, Kansas City, and Brienna Long, cousin of the bride, Monroe City.
Melissa Firestone of St. Louis served as the bride’s personal attendant.
Readers were Dennis Long, uncle of the bride, and Teresa Adams, aunt of the groom, both of Monroe City.
Music was provided by Connie Walker and Toni Hunter, friends of the bride, Monroe City; Anthony Hagan, friend of the bride, St. Louis, and Donna Long, aunt of the bride, Monroe City.
Caitlin Kendrick of Monroe City and Victoria Smith of Payson, Ill., cousins of the bride, attended the guest book and programs.
The groom’s parents were hosts for the rehearsal dinner at their home. The wedding reception was held at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Monroe City with dinner and dancing.
The bride is a 2004 graduate of Monroe City R-1 High School and a 2008 graduate of the University of Missouri at Columbia with a B.S. in textile and apparel management. She is employed by Learning Opportunities Quality Works in Monroe City.
The groom is a 2003 graduate of Monroe City R-1 High School and a 2007 graduate of Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville with a B.S. in parks and recreation management. He is employed by Wink’s Lawn Service in Monroe City.
The couple is making their home at 717 Prairie St. in Monroe City.
