Trick or Treat for Kids is Saturday
Participating Monroe City merchants will provide treats for local youth from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday. Children should be 12 years old and younger and should be in costume. This is sponsored by the Monroe City Chamber of Commerce.
Block Parents to hand out treats at gazebo
The Monroe City Block Parents will provide treats for children from dusk until the candy runs out Saturday night at St. Jude’s Square Gazebo.
Haunted House continues this weekend
National Active and Retired Federal Employees will continue their annual Haunted House Oct. 30-31 at the Lions Club Barn. The tours begin at 6 p.m. nightly. Those daring to enter the haunted house must escape the mad doctor, solve mystery mazes and pass through the cemetery of the living dead. There is a $3 fee for elementary age children and younger and $4 for middle school age children and younger.
Final weekend for Swinkey Corn Maze
This is the final weekend of the Swinkey Corn Maze. Special nighttime maze adventures will be popular for maze trick or treaters.
Chamber banquet is Nov. 12 The annual Monroe City Chamber of Commerce Awards Banquet will be Thursday, Nov. 12 at the Monroe City Senior Nutrition Center. A prime rib dinner will be served for $18 a plate. Reservations are strongly suggested by calling the chamber telephone, 573-735-4391. Mayor Neal Minor will be the guest speaker. He will speak on economic development and a vision for the town.
