Monroe City Police News

The Monroe City Police Department responded to the following calls.
Michael W. Warden was arrested July 6 for failing to appear in court. He was bonded and released.
Adam C. Bock was issued a summons for not having a valid license and failing to maintain financial responsibility.
An unidentified female reported having been assaulted and her car damaged during a child exchange with her ex-husband in New London. She was referred to New London Police and/or the Ralls County Sheriff's Department since this did not occur in the city.
There was a report of two young white males prowling and provoking a dog in the 300 block of Front Street. The subjects were not located and were gone upon arrival.
There was a complaint of an older male operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated on Front Street. He was gone upon arrival and was not located.
On July 7 there was a report of stolen bikes at the 100 block of Lawn Street.
Police assisted in the search of a possible suspect of a bank robbery in Clarence.
Officers investigated a report of a possible assault case.
There was a report of property damage at 826 Park St. with a window shot with a BB gun.
Casey J. Minter was arrested for failure to appear in court.
There was a fight reported at the 200 block of First Street on July 8.
There was a report of juveniles in the roadway causing a traffic hazard. Subjects were told to take it home and park it.
There was a child custody dispute in the 200 block of South Main Street.
On July 9 there was a report of peace disturbance at Prosperity and Easy.
A dog was found at Peggy Sue's and taken to the pound.
There was a 911 hang up at Gateway Inn. Contact was made with the owner who stated she called 911 for someone driving on her property that she did not want on property. Police advised the individual to stay away from the hotel.
After placing a cat in the pound on July 10, police arrested Christopher D. Shinn for failure to obey judge's orders in Monroe County.
A juvenile shoplifter at Ben Franklin was released to his/her family and the case was forwarded to the juvenile office.
There was a fight reported at 425 North Oak St. where one subject had a head laceration, refused medical treatment and declined to press charges.
On July 11 Kyle David Crow was arrested for a first-offense DWI.
Officers responded to a possible sexual assault and rode in the ambulance with the victim. No charges have been filed. The incident remains under investigation. The incident involved two adults who had previously had consensual sex.
Thomas William Owen was issued a summons for DWI, speeding and having an open liquor container in public on July 12. He was released on bond.

Monroe County Commission

The Monroe County Commission traveled to a proposed BRO Bridge project on County Road (cart #) 353 to meet with landowners to discuss right of way acquisition Monday, July 13.
The commission traveled to Pike County to inspect a side broom brush cutter.
The commission reviewed signage options for the Mark Twain Birthsite Trail.
Specifications were reviewed and approved for advertising for bids to acquire a side boom brush cutter.
Ron Purdy was appointed to serve on the Madison Special Road District, for a three year term to end April 2013.
Sheriff David Hoffman reviewed his department's budget with the commission.
The commission approved the partial payment due to the North East Drug Task Force.
The commission approved a progress invoice on BRO-446 (33) and on BRO-198 (34) to Great River Engineering.
To start its Friday, July 10 meeting the commission met with Monroe County Assessor Eleanor Roberts to review valuation issues.
The commission traveled to Chariton County to inspect a side boom brush cutter.
The commission processed and approved routine invoices.
The commission contacted architect Mike Kettlekamp to discuss a proposed grant application.

Kala Boswell, probation revocation, sentenced to six months in the Marion County Jail and 90 days in Marion County Jail for a previous charge;
Nina Barton, probation revocation, 30 days in county jail;
Charity Hinds, probation revocation, 30 days in county jail;
James L. Fuget Jr., possession of drug paraphernalia, 60 days in county jail;
Amber N. Chamberlain, possession of marijuana in jail, three years in Missouri prison;
Scott Brewer, second-degree arson, three years in prison;
Robert D. Painter, three counts of second-degree burglary, five years in prison.

Ralls County County Commission

The Ralls County Commission got underway with its Monday, July 6 meeting with a review of the county budget at the halfway point of the year. The review showed that spending was still on track with the estimated budget at that time.
The commission then signed a NECAC letter of support for Homelessness Prevention and Rapid Re-Housing Program (HPRP) funds.
