Chip and seal operations planned on Missouri 154, 19
Weather permitting, MoDOT will apply a chip seal to Route 154 from Route 19 through Perry to Route B in Monroe County on June 2 and 3.
Operations will begin in the city limits of Perry on Tuesday, June 2; motorists are advised not to park their vehicles on the street in Perry during this time so the entire road can be treated. On Wednesday, June 3 crews will chip seal from Route 19 to the east city limits of Perry and from the west city limits of Perry to Route B in Monroe County.
Traffic will be reduced to one lane between 7:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. with a pilot car leading traffic through the work zone. Work is expected to be complete by the end of the workday.
Chip sealing is a preventative maintenance measure that helps preserve the current condition of the road, but doesn’t contribute to the smoothness of the surface. The project consists of placing a thin overlay of chips and oil on the roadway to seal and protect the pavement and extend the pavement life. The roadway can be driven on soon after applied, however motorists are encouraged to drive slow on the newly sealed road or to use an alternate route to avoid delays.
All roadwork is posted on the traveler information map on the day it begins. Those traveling and commuting public are encouraged to check the online map at www. modot.org daily for new work zones. MoDOT also offers e-update messages sent directly to your email when roadwork is scheduled.
