Ralls County roads to be improved

Approximately 12 miles of highway will be resurfaced in Ralls County
this summer. This work is funded 80 percent with federal funds since
the work is necessary to repair damage from the detoured Route 79 traffi c
during the fl ooding during the summer of 2008. “We had to detour traffi c
to these roads when Route 79 was closed last summer during fl ooding,”
said Mark Giessinger, maintenance and traffi c engineer for MoDOT.

“Smaller roads like these had to endure additional commercial vehicles
they were not originally built for, so we knew repairs would be eminent,”
Giessinger explained.

Route N will be resurfaced from Route 79 west to Route T. Route T
will be resurfaced from the beginning of state maintenance in Hannibal
south 7.8 miles to Route V and Route V will be resurfaced to Business
Route 61 in New London.
