Monroe County Sheriff David
Hoffman reported the following
activity during the past week.
On March 2, they investigated
mailbox vandalism in Northern
Monroe County.

On March 2, police investigated
a two-vehicle accident in Paris.
On March 2, police responded
to a report of cows being out on
Highway 24, west of Paris.
On March 3, they received a report
of cows being out on Highway
154.

On March 3, they assisted with
a disabled vehicle south of Paris.
On March 4, the sheriff’s department
took a report of stolen livestock
in northern Monroe county.
On March 5, they assisted Monroe
City Police with a bomb threat
at Pizza Hut in Monroe City.
On March 5 and 6, they investigated
animal complaints and animal
abuse complaints.

On March 7, they investigated
a burglary of a trailer house near
Florida.

On March 7, they received a report
of a dead Bald Eagle in northern
Monroe County. This was referred
to the Missouri Department
of Conservation.

The sheriff’s department responded
to a report of cows being
out on Route D.
On March 8, they received a report
of dogs running loose in Paris.
Animals were located and owners
were notifi ed.
On March 8, the sheriff’s department
assisted emergency offi
cials with a fi re on Route N in
Monroe County.
On March 8, the department responded
to a report of a two-vehicle
accident on Main Street in Paris.
On March 8, the sheriff’s department
investigated a suspicious vehicle
in the Duncans Bridge area.
The following arrests were
made:

Joshua Edmund, Bowling
Green, arrested for driving while
intoxicated, posted $1,000 bond.
Marsha Martin, Paris, arrested
for driving while intoxicated, posted
$1,000 bond.

Lee Johnston, Excelsior Springs,
posted a warrant bond.
Timothy Breuer, Monroe City,

posted a warrant bond of $1,000
cash on two Ralls County warrants.
Jeffrey Hendrix, Monroe City,
arrested on domestic assault and
posted $2,000 bond.

The inmate count for March was
16. On Monday there were nine inmates
in the county jail.

The Monroe County Commission
communicated with Butch
Simmons of SEMA to insure proper
documentation for the July 2008
fl ood recovery projects during its
meeting Monday, March 2.

Sheriff David Hoffman appeared
to discuss the North East
Drug Task Force and to review the
fee structure.

Lonnie Forrest with the U.S.
Army Corps of Engineers telephoned
to discuss the new proposed
water control manual changes
for Mark Twain Lake.
Commission and Monroe
County Recorder Merry Sue Meals
contacted Scott Gardner to review
details of proposed recorder equipment
contract.
Dan Buckman of Great River
Engineering was contacted to
discuss the status for bids on the
446/33 BRO Project and the 205/
Columbia Bridge project.
Commissioners went to Paris
Senior Center for the U.S. Army
Corps of Engineers meeting on
the revisions proposed to the water
control manual.
In its Friday, Feb. 27 meeting,
the commission began the meeting
by approving and processing routine
payroll and invoices.
Commissioners and Road Supervisor
Mike Minor conducted
a work session for the Road and
Bridge position.
Paris City Administrator Phil
Shatzer, Chuck Herron and the
Commission reviewed signage options
for the proposed recycling
trailer project.

Lynn Fodge met with the commission
regarding drainage issues
on County Road 840.

The 911 Coordinator, Sam Curd,
appeared to update the commission
on 911 operations.

Eleanor Roberts, Monroe County
Assessor, appeared to review
equipment contracts and related
documentation.

Mike and Chris Rundell appeared
to inquire about the status
of a county road.

Cecil Pollard and Otis Jones
inquired about roadway easement
width on County Road 743.
Scott Gardner and Fidlar Technologies
called to review terms for
the contract of the county recorders
equipment.
